9. Please document your observations for the first two hours:
Arrived 9:45. We were to meet media on site by 10:00. Word was out that we were there and about 30 people were waiting for our arrival. We docked by the launch ramp and took up the table and supplies to set up. About 10:30 the radio station arrived and set up near us. We were asked to not pledge out jackets until the station was set up. This created a big problem. “Helping hands” had moved stock to the tables but were unswerving in letting go of “their” jackets. We were struggling to keep them. A few even ended up being secreted into the store. Jenny did a yeoman job in retrieving the loose jackets until we pledged them. I “entertained” the group – now to about 50 – with info on the jackets, the need for more boating education and answered general boating questions until we were able to properly pledge the jackets. As expected the campers were there in numbers and we had to be quite specific about the need to get these special jackets out to boaters only. It was difficult to qualify some as they were drinking and belligerent.
10. Please document your observations for the balance of the day's operations:
Handed out 135 jackets. We still had some by day's end. Dozen's of "bags" were handed out as well. Gloria was on site and eventually took the boat out with the “crew” leaving me to man the table solo.
Radio station shut down at 1 after announcing the winner of the drawings.
We handed out 135 jackets and dozens of Ts, coozies, eyeglass clips, etc.
We shut down the site at 2:00. Returned to dock-ordered the boat. Cleaned it and returned it to trailer. I drove the rig back to CW&W solo.
11. Time of arrival at boat slip: 2:30 p.m.
