Operator Report (July 7, 2007)

1. Today's date is: July 7, 2007

2. My boat crew includes: Ian Osugi, Stacy McCarville, Glenn Monroe, and Jim Hefflefinger

3. Safety and equipment inspection: Yes. Everyone was wearing their life jackets. We refueled the boat, and oil levels were good. Fire extinguishers in good working order. Also equipped on the boat is gps, cell phone, compass, and walkie talkie. Inspection complete.

4. Time of departure from boat slip: Arrival at at Buckley Cove at 8:00 a.m. We left Buckley Cove and headed to Turner Cut at 8:30 a.m.

5. During the day's operation, did you observe any children (12 and under) not wearing life jackets while onboard a boat? If so, approximately how many?
No

6. During the day's operation, approximately how many powerboats did you interact with? We interacted with 25 powerboats.

7. During the day's operation, approximately how many jetskis (personal watercraft) did you interact with? We interacted with 2 pwcs.

8. During the day's operation, approximately how many non-powered boats (canoes, kayaks, and rafts) did you interact with? None

9. Please document your observations for the first two hours:
The first hour we helped Jim set up on shore. We greeted the Mega 100 crew, J.D., Charles, and Tom (there was also a minor child on board). We drove all over throwing t-shirts, koozies, and wristbands. It was really fun. The younger crowd seems to dig the free promotional items, but we were unable to get them to sign a pledge to wear a life jacket.

10. Please document your observations for the balance of the day's operations:
We arrived back a Turner Cut about 1:30 p.m. We dropped off the Mega 100 crew and checked in to see how we were doing on shore. The flow of boaters was pretty good. The Stockton Record was out there talking to the boaters to ask them what they thought of the campaign. The day started to die down. Jim and Ray stayed on shore while the rest of us cruised around on the Delta trying to get the attention of boaters. That half of the day was not as successful. We headed back to Buckley Cove about 3:00 p.m. There were a total of 99 pledge cards signed and life jackets handed out.

11. Time of arrival at boat slip: We arrived back at Buckley Cove at 3:30 p.m.
